History
The Shreveport-Bossier Military Affairs Council (MAC) was established in 1986 by the Shreveport and Bossier City Chambers of Commerce for the purpose of serving as the primary liaison between the civilian/business community and the commanders of Barksdale Air Force Base.
Our Mission
The mission of the MAC organization is to act as a support group and liaison between civilians and base command, supporting the people who serve our nation while stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base.
Our action list includes:
- To act as a conduit for base leadership concerning activities being planned by community organizations that affect or involve Barksdale.
- To enhance and maintain the highest level of mutual cooperation between Barksdale AFB and Shreveport/Bossier City leadership.
- To provide a forum to resolve current and potential concerns of civilian and military leadership.
- To maintain contact with legislators locally and nationally to ensure the long-term viability of Barksdale AFB in the defense establishment.
